#Demand the passing of Bill 173 Intimate Partner Violence Epidemic Act, 2024 .Canada
The Issue
We cannot wait anymore; we are losing lives, women are being killed. Canadian and people came from diverse backgrounds, and many of them are also newcomers and refugees. Canada represents security and safety, and making it an ideal choice for women seeking a better future. However, we have come to realize that there are gaps that contribute to insecurities, not only among Canadian women but also among newcomers and refugees who arrived in this country filled with hope and dreams.
As a woman, this issue is deeply personal to Me(Ayesha) and my team members (LUPE, Lilian) our shared experiences with women in Canada led us to strongly support legislation that improves our safety, like Bill 173.
Tragically, a significant number of women lose their lives to intimate partner violence each year. We urge the Government of canada to immediately pass Bill 173 and declare intimate partner violence the epidemic we know it is. This is an essential first step to combating this lethal epidemic. The significance of this matter extends beyond the annual 16 days of activism; it requires consistent action.
Passing Bill 173 is a step in the right direction. It provides necessary provisions to protect women and addresses the ongoing problem of intimate partner violence. This bill is about ensuring a better and safer future for all women.
By signing this petition, you are not only supporting women's safety but also advocating for a much-needed societal change. We urge our politicians to prioritize the passage of this bill. We need real change, and we need it now. Please, sign this petition and join us in bringing this critical issue to light.
let’s make it happens during 16 days of activism on gender based violence. #GBV #IPV #Ontario
