As an unemployed South African youth, I am deeply disturbed by the dismissive attitude of ANC Regional Mayor Mr. Dada Morero towards the soaring unemployment of South African nationals. His recent proposal of employing foreign nationals in JMPD roles, while many competent South African nationals continue to remain unemployed, is an issue that cannot be ignored.

South Africa has a staggering unemployment rate of nearly 35%, one of the highest in the world (source: STATS SA). Yet our leaders like Mr. Morero overlook this grim reality, further aggravating the problem by considering foreign nationals for roles that our unemployed nationals could fill. This is not about xenophobia but about preserving the future of South Africa - we need leaders who prioritize South African nationals and our national interests.

I am one among the millions of unemployed South Africans, who despite numerous attempts have been unable to secure a job. Leaders like Mr. Morero who disregard the plight of the unemployed nationals should not remain in power.
