Demand the Highest Charges in the Bridgewater Hot Car Dog Deaths

The Issue

Two dogs died in unimaginable conditions in Bridgewater, Massachusetts—left to suffer in a sealed car as temperatures soared past 130 degrees.

On July 17, during a 90-degree day, two Bridgewater residents allegedly left their dogs locked inside a vehicle for over 90 minutes, with the windows closed and no air conditioning. By the time police arrived, the dogs were already dead. They were removed from the vehicle and found lifeless on the concrete outside their home.

This was not an accident. It was neglect. And it was fatal.

Police found the interior of the women’s home in unsanitary condition, and are pursuing charges of animal cruelty and confining an animal in a vehicle causing exposure to extreme heat. But far too often, animal cruelty cases are quietly reduced or dismissed. That cannot happen here.

We are calling on Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz and the Bridgewater Police Department to pursue the highest possible charges in this case and ensure the people responsible are held fully accountable under Massachusetts law.

These dogs didn’t die because of the weather. They died because of a choice—because someone left them behind in a car with no ventilation, no escape, and no regard for their lives.

Massachusetts has strong laws meant to prevent this kind of cruelty. But those laws only matter if they are enforced, publicly and seriously.

Sign this petition to demand justice in the Bridgewater case—and to send a message that our community does not tolerate animal abuse or neglect, no matter the excuse.
