Demand the Government Exclude Coffee from Tariffs

The Issue

The U.S. government must exclude coffee from the new tariffs imposed on imported goods.

As tariffs on key coffee-producing countries like Brazil, Vietnam, and Colombia go into effect, we are facing steep price increases that will harm millions of American consumers and businesses.

Coffee is not a product we can produce domestically on a large scale.

The U.S. relies almost entirely on imports to meet the demand for coffee. Tariffs make no sense on a product that we cannot grow in sufficient quantities. Raising prices will hurt not just individual coffee drinkers, but also businesses, from small local cafés to large coffee chains.

These tariffs are set to increase the cost of coffee beans, and that price hike will inevitably be passed on to consumers, making coffee less accessible for everyday Americans.

Small businesses, local coffee shops, and family-owned coffee roasters will be particularly affected, with some potentially unable to survive such an economic blow.

At a time when many people are already struggling with rising costs of living, the government’s decision to target coffee imports will only make things worse.

We need coffee—there is no substitute.

The government must act now and exclude coffee from these tariffs. Coffee is an essential part of life for millions of Americans, and its price should not be artificially inflated through unnecessary trade restrictions!
