Demand the end of Offensive Weapon Sales to Israel
The Issue
My connection with the people living in Palestine has painted a vivid picture of the hardship they face daily due to the situation with Israel. The continued sale of offensive weapons to Israel, despite the breaches of international law, only contributes to the escalating struggle of those living in Palestine.
During this current war in Palestine started on the 8th of October 2023, at least 44,000 Palestines have died and over 120,000 injured majority of who are women and children. The hospitals in gaza are not functioning due to Israel raiding them and bombing them. Millions of people have been displaced, refugee camps bombed and set on fire with people still in them. In lebanon over 3000 people have been killed and over 14,000 injured many of whom are women and children, at least 208 health workers killed, at least 286 attacks on healthcare services excluding 66 attacks on hospitals and 220 attacks on emergency medical serices, 8 hospitals have been rendered non functional and 40 damaged, 249 ambulances damaged. This all sounds like a scene from a horror movie certainty not something that whould happen in the modern world but the truth is this is not fictional this is the truth for the brave souls from palastine and lebanon.
Each year, countries globally are supplying an enormous amount of offensive weapons to Israel. In 2019 alone, the USA, for instance, provided $3.8 billion in foreign military aid to Israel (Congressional Research Service, 2020). This perpetuates the violence and increases the risk to innocent lives.
These weapon sales not only enable Israel's aggression but also defy international humanitarian laws. Israel has repeatedly been accused of unlawful killing and unnecessary use of force in the region (Human Rights Watch, 2020).
Now the International Crimnal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Israel prime minister Netanyahu and ex-minister of defence for crimes against humanity and war crimes. Despite this country's are still supplying Israel with weapons.
It's time for all nations to uphold integrity, taking a stand for justice, and respect for human life by halting the sale of offensive weapons to Israel. This act will put increasing pressure on Israel to respect international laws and the rights of individuals living in Palestine. Add your voice to this call - sign the petition now.
