As an Aboriginal individual, I am deeply disturbed and angered by the recent actions of Sky News reporter Peter Stefanovic. He publicly shamed a young Aboriginal man for his past after he won $1 million dollars, reinforcing harmful stereotypes and contributing to systemic racism in Australia. This incident is not isolated; it is part of a broader pattern. According to the Australian Human Rights Commission, over one-third of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have experienced racial discrimination (AHRC 2018). It's time we take a stand against this blatant disregard for journalistic ethics.

Peter Stefanovic's actions are not only disrespectful but also violate professional journalism standards that require reporters to respect individuals' rights to privacy and dignity (MEAA Journalist Code of Ethics). His conduct fuels the fire of racial prejudice that continues to harm Indigenous communities across Australia.

We demand that Sky News take immediate action by dismissing Peter Stefanovic from his position. By doing so, they can send a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated in their organization or within the wider media industry.
