I am a concerned citizen of Pilot Point, TX, and I have witnessed our city suffer under the leadership of City Manager Britt Lusk. Since his appointment two years ago, Mr. Lusk has consistently demonstrated poor judgement and ineffective management that has severely damaged our city's reputation and created a deep divide among its citizens.

One glaring example is his handling of the Pilot Point Police Department and the Police Chief, Rex Marks. For Mr. Lusk's poor hiring pactices, the Department has been saddled with a Chief that spends taxpayer dollars with almost no oversight, spends more time away from Pilot Point than within its borders, and saw officer morale sink to unacceptable levels leading to massive turnover. His subversive business practices in this regard are grounds enough for his immediate termination. 

In addition, the recent slew of amendments to the City Charter placed on the Spring 2024 balot at Mr. Lusk's behest serve only to further empower the position of City Manager as well as the City Council while stripping the Citizens of Pilot Point of even more of their rights and freedoms. Most, or all, of the population of Pilot Point deeply cherish the freedoms provided by a small town with a small and unobtrusive government. The proposed changes to the Charter go against these values and prove that Mr. Lusk is manipulating every advantage in order to protect himself from the will of the Citizens and the Council. 

The lack of transparency in these dealings has not only undermined trust in our local government but also put into question Mr. Lusk's ability to effectively manage our city.

Our community deserves better than this. We deserve a leader who will act with integrity, make sound decisions on behalf of all residents, and work tirelessly to improve Pilot Point rather than contribute to its decline.

We call upon the City Council to take immediate action by removing Mr. Britt Lusk from his position as City Manager due to his consistent failure in fulfilling his duties responsibly and effectively.
