Demand the Department of Education freeze unauthorized third-party data access

Demand the Department of Education freeze unauthorized third-party data access
The Issue
Life is already hard enough. While navigating a significant medical hardship, the very systems meant to support me were failing behind the scenes. It is personal to me because I shouldn't have to fight a federal agency for privacy while I am fighting for my health. I am doing this so that no other borrower has to deal with the stress of a 'data experiment' while they are at their most vulnerable. We are calling on the Department of Education to immediately halt any unauthorized access to students' and borrowers' data by third-party entities. Many, like myself, have discovered that their personal information is being accessed and shared without explicit consent. This unauthorized access puts thousands of borrowers at risk as their sensitive data could be misused or mishandled, leading to a breach of privacy or even identity theft. Recent investigations have revealed that data meant to be safeguarded by the Department of Education has instead been accessed by third parties without proper authorization. This situation is not just a breach of trust but a violation of the privacy rights of students and borrowers alike. We should not have to worry about who has access to our personal information while we're already under duress. Privacy is critical, especially for those of us facing medical or financial hardships. We should not be forced to also battle with federal agencies over the protection of our data. Simply put, there should be no reason to constantly worry about personal information being part of an unauthorized 'data experiment'. Our goal is to compel the Department of Education to enforce stronger data protection protocols, ensuring that any access to student and borrower information is strictly authorized, transparent, and accountable. As part of this, comprehensive audits should be conducted to identify and eliminate unauthorized data sharing practices. Sign this petition to demand that the Department of Education takes immediate action to protect our privacy rights. Together, we can ensure that no one else has to face such stress and uncertainty during already difficult times. Secure our data, secure our future.
