Demand the City of Toronto to Reconsider Lane Reduction for Bike Tracks
The Issue
I am a resident living in the congested confrontation of where the City of Toronto plans to eliminate a lane of traffic for bike tracks. This reduction is in violation of Bill 212, causing concern for many, including myself. Lack of granular data to support this move augments the chaos, confirming the city's inadequate planning.
Their proposal is not backed by Toronto Police, Toronto Fire, or Toronto EMS. Local businesses and residents of three senior buildings have expressed their opposition as well. The worrisome part for seniors is the impact on Wheeltrans and passenger pickups. All this bears testament to the fact that the proposed bike tracks are largely unwanted and potentially hazardous.
The proposed plan will significantly increase congestion in an area that is residential and ill-equipped to handle heavy wheel traffic. We believe this is an unsatisfactory solution and a clear disregard of citizens' needs.
Considering these reasons, we urge the City of Toronto and relevant authorities to reconsider and revoke their decision of lane reduction for bike tracks. The wellbeing and concerns of the community should never be undermined or overlooked. Please, sign this petition to help us protect our neighbourhood and its residents.
