The actions of the English Defence League (EDL) have continuously threatened peace in our beloved United Kingdom. Over the years, we have witnessed their destructive actions rooted in hate, intolerance, and blatant disrespect. Furthermore, individuals associated with EDL, under misguided notions of patriotism and nationalism, have been involved in incidents of violence, threatening not just the well-being of civilians but damaging public services as well. They show no respect to the peacekeepers — our dedicated police force — and routinely violate the rights of minority communities resulting in severe personal injuries and widespread fear.

According to a report by Hope Not Hate, the EDL has been linked to 10% of extremist demonstrations taking place in the UK between 2009 and 2018. This is not what the UK stands for, and we need your help to put an end to this threat. This petition aims at compelling the UK government to recognise the EDL as a terrorist organisation and subsequently ban its operations nationwide.
