As a mother of two children who have attended both Laura W. Bush and Canyon Ridge Middle School, I have spent the last six years witnessing firsthand the worsening gridlock traffic on Country Trails Road in Steiner Ranch, Austin, TX. My youngest is about to graduate from Canyon Ridge, but this issue remains a significant concern for all parents and residents in our community.

Country Trails Road has become increasingly congested due to heavy school traffic. This not only causes delays for parents and students but also poses serious safety risks for drivers and pedestrians alike. Cars are constantly trying to cut into the main traffic, sometimes up to 3 cars at a time at unofficial "intersections," adding considerably to the congestion. It's easily the worst traffic area in Steiner Ranch, and our current infrastructure is unable to accommodate the volume of vehicles during peak hours. 

We urge Travis County and Leander ISD to allocate funding in their budget towards widening Country Trails Road. This necessary improvement will alleviate the heavy school traffic gridlock we face daily and significantly enhance safety conditions for all road users.

Steiner Ranch and the surrounding Four Points area continue to add many residents every year with the development of housing subdivisions and apartments. It's time that we update our infrastructure accordingly to keep up with the rapid growth. We call upon you, as representatives of Travis County and LISD, to take action now before it's too late.
