Demand That Met-Ed Electric Addresses Constant Power Outages and Compensate Customers
The Issue
As a resident of Bainbridge, PA, and a parent of two small children, I am deeply concerned about the constant power outages we experience. It is not just inconvenient but also unsafe to be without power for 24 hours at a time during extreme weather conditions. This issue affects not only my family but also our entire community. Many of our neighbors may not have the ability to safely warm/cool themselves, have access to clean running water, or other public safety issues during these power outages.
Met-Ed Electric Company of Central Pennsylvania has failed to provide reliable service or communicate effectively with its customers. We demand that they come up with a clear and concise plan for fixing these constant power outages and regularly update their customers on this plan.
Furthermore, we insist that Met-Ed reimburse all customers a standard amount over $50 on their bill for each power outage that lasts more than 12 hours. This compensation is necessary to cover costs incurred by customers as a result of these frequent disruptions in service.
Power outages are more than just an inconvenience; they can lead to serious health risks and financial burdens. According to the U.S Department of Energy, prolonged power outages can cause billions in economic losses each year (source: U.S Department of Energy). For families like mine who have young children or elderly members at home, it can be life-threatening during severe weather conditions.
