I am a child of an immigrant mother and an Indigenous father. Both sides of my family have experienced profiling and injustice in the US because of their race. Today, my daughter, a Freshman at ASU, is at risk. Alongside her, ASU's Latinx student body is threatened by the unchecked actions of College Republicans United (CRU). This officially recognized ASU campus club, known for its far-right and white nationalist ties, has crossed a line. On January 31, 2025, the group posted a tabling event on the Tempe Campus with a message encouraging students to report their classmates to ICE for deportation. These acts of racial profiling and harassment are NOT ACCEPTABLE!

ASU claims to support its Latinx student body, yet they issued a weak statement that didn't even name CRU as the organizer. There is a stark contrast between ASU's claim to support Latinx students and their response to the CRU event. ASU must acknowledge this conflict rather than turning a blind eye. According to the National Immigration Law Center, racial profiling has profound psychological and emotional effects, not to mention its disruption to feeling safe and belonging wherever we are. Racial profiling perpetuates systemic racism and leaves deep scars on our communities.

It’s time to require ASU to step up, to unequivocally condemn these actions of the College Republicans United, and to enforce punitive measures against student groups that resort to racial profiling. This is a matter of safety, dignity, and respect for all students, regardless of their ethnic or racial backgrounds. An educational institution must foster a safe and conducive environment for all its students. Sadly, the actions of this group stand directly opposed to this principle. We must act now for my daughter and for all the students who might be targeted in this disgraceful manner.

Please sign this petition to demand that ASU condemns and punishes College Republicans United and suspend or expel the individuals responsible for their dangerous behavior. We cannot allow this to continue. Together, we can make a difference.
