The Issue

I am a foreign-trained dentist who has been struggling for two years to enter a dental school due to limited admission opportunities. Like many others in my situation, I find myself stuck in a peculiar predicament because the acceptance rates in dental schools are as low as 5%. As a citizen who cannot return to my home country to practice Dentistry, I feel the effect of this problem personally and deeply.

Our plea is to the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) to support American Dental Association's (ADA) resolutions. We are willing to take license exams but United States should allow us to practice hygiene without going to Coda accredited hygiene school. These resolutions aim to expand access to careers in dental hygiene for foreign dentists and address the workforce shortages.

The demand for dental professionals is high, yet the gateways to the dental profession remain unacceptably narrow. It is essential for the ADHA to support the ADA resolutions that not only promote diversity in the profession but also respond to the increasing demand for dental care in our communities.

Let us rally behind the call for action, endorsing the expansion of opportunities in the dental hygiene profession, and addressing workforce shortages. Your signature could make a significant difference in the lives of many dedicated foreign-trained dentists like myself. Please sign this petition.
