The Issue

Government spending in the Philippines directly impacts the quality of life for Filipino families, including mine. We deserve to know where and how our taxes are being utilized. Unfortunately, the lack of transparency and accountability in government financial activities often leads to mismanagement, corruption, and inefficient use of resources. This directly affects public services such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and poverty alleviation efforts.

The Commission on Audit (COA) regularly releases reports highlighting discrepancies and irregularities in government expenditures. For instance, the most recent report pointed out an unaccounted ₱10 billion in public funds. Such instances raise questions about the integrity of public financial management and erode public trust in our institutions.

We need a tangible change that will hold government officials accountable for every peso spent. Implementing stronger transparency measures can be the first step towards addressing this issue. We urge the government to adopt a comprehensive system that ensures open access to budget allocations and expenditures. This includes the establishment of an online platform where citizens can easily view budget data and track development projects in real-time.

Additionally, we call for an independent oversight committee that will work alongside COA, focusing on auditing and reviewing government expenditures to prevent any misuse of funds. Regular public updates about government spending should be mandatory to uphold transparency and public confidence.

By supporting this petition, you are advocating for a government that respects and values the hard-earned money of its citizens. Together, we can build a system that benefits every Filipino, ensures fair distribution of resources, and creates a brighter future for our country.

Let us demand stronger transparency and accountability in government spending to create a better future for all. Sign this petition to make your voice heard.
