Demand Stringent Action Against Slumlords and Unlawful Harassment of Tenants

Demand Stringent Action Against Slumlords and Unlawful Harassment of Tenants
The Issue
I am a tenant who, like countless others, is experiencing severe harassment at the hands of slumlords. After suing for repairs and harassment in January of 2021, I have been under constant pressure. Out of 17 units, seven have been recruited to participate in relentless gang-stalking activities, causing me extreme psychological distress since October 2021. I am allowed only 1-3 hours of sleep every 5-7 days, incessantly disturbed by the noise from a ceiling thumping machine, and made to endure physically sickening conditions due to an unstable unit, and the loss of essential services. Despite reporting these issues to the police over 300 times, no substantial action has been taken. There are currently 51 open HPD violations linked to these incidents, and despite being active in civil court, the illegal activities have not ceased.
Across America, nearly 2.3 million people live in substandard housing conditions, forced to endure hazardous living conditions and unfair treatment (source: National Alliance to End Homelessness). Tenants suffering harassment, including potentially illegal retaliation and coordinated stalking, is not an exception but rather, an alarming norm. The current system not only fails to fight this issue effectively but allows several landlords to stay in business, despite violating federal and civil laws.
This is not just about one case, it's about an unjust system that permits such heinous actions. I urge you all to sign this petition, demanding that agencies responsible for enforcing housing laws and protecting victims to take immediate and compelling action against slumlords engaging in unlawful behaviors. Show your support to end these injustices. We're tired of merely surviving, we demand change and better living conditions now. Sign today to fight against housing discrimination, slumlord practices, and tenant harassment. Demand stringent punitive and remedial action against offenders, and insist on the enforcement of legal protections for tenants.
