Demand Stricter Laws for Fentanyl Distribution in Alabama

Demand Stricter Laws for Fentanyl Distribution in Alabama
The Issue
I am writing this petition with a heavy heart, having lost two of my brothers to the lethal effects of fentanyl. They were given what are known as "dirty 30's", fentanyl pressed pills, which led to their untimely deaths. The individuals responsible were charged, but the charges amounted to nothing significant. This is because there is no specific law in Alabama addressing the selling or administering of these deadly substances.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 50-100 times more potent than morphine and has been linked to an increasing number of overdose deaths across the United States (source: CDC). In Winston County, AL alone, we have seen firsthand how devastating this drug can be.
The lack of stringent laws against distributing fentanyl not only allows culprits to walk free but also puts more lives at risk every day. It's high time we demand stricter laws for fentanyl distribution in our state.
We cannot bring back those we've lost, but by taking action now, we can prevent other families from experiencing such tragic loss. We urge our lawmakers in Alabama to enact stricter penalties for those found guilty of distributing fentanyl and similar substances.
Please sign this petition if you believe that stronger legislation against the distribution of deadly drugs like Fentanyl should be implemented in Alabama. Together let's make our community safer and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

In an unfolding tragedy, five people have been charged in connection with the death of two Cullman County brothers, Braxton Thomas, 30, and Rico Tannehill, 28. The Winston County Sheriff’s Office has reported that the siblings succumbed to suspected drug overdoses. Their bodies were found on November 5 in Thomas’s car outside the residence of Marvin Edward Grace, one of the accused. The evening before their deaths, the brothers, along with Brittiany Lashae Lewis, were seen at the homes of Grace and April Nicole Gosa where narcotics were allegedly consumed.Marvin Edward Grace is now facing multiple charges, including abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence, after allegedly moving the brothers' car to a remote area in hopes they would be discovered. April Nicole Gosa has been charged with trafficking fentanyl, while Brittiany Lashae Lewis and Nichole Cline-Ikerd have been charged with criminal conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime. Shawn William Dickinson faces charges of theft and tampering with evidence. All five are currently detained at the Winston County Jail.
