My passion for the First Amendment and my belief in the fundamental rights that it guarantees to all Americans drives my motivation to launch this petition. The incident I wish to address concerns Bishop Mariann Budde, an ordained pastor, who was exercising her constitutionally protected right to free speech. However, she was threatened with deportation by Representative Mike Collins, a gesture that blatantly undermines the cornerstone of our democracy: freedom of speech.

It is important to note that our Constitution, recognized worldwide for its wide-ranging rights and liberties, enshrines freedom of speech in its First Amendment. This right is not to be trampled upon but upheld, protected, and cherished. Yet, in stark violation of this, Representative Collins has acted in disregard of these very principles that form the essence of American democracy.

This petition calls upon the Speaker of the House Mike Johnson to publicly condemn Representative Collins's statement, holding him accountable for undermining our rights. Speaking against a fellow citizen's use of their constitutional freedoms is not an action that should be ignored or taken lightly.

Every individual's voice is an integral part of our democracy and their freedom to express differing views must not be stifled or threatened.
