As an avid fan of LittleBigPlanet 3, I recently returned to this cherished game only to find the heart of the experience – the online content and sharing capability – entirely absent. The absence is not only poignant but also deeply distressing. LittleBigPlanet 3 is a marvellous platform for creativity, community and collaboration. The impossibility of accessing any content, sharing our creations, or experiencing multiplayer entertainment is a great disservice to a game that has brought joy to many.

It has come to this unfortunate situation due to targeted attacks on the official server. These attacks have resulted in Sony making the regrettable decision to shut down the server, seemingly without attempts to counteract these issues. However, this should not be the fate of a game that has had such a profound impact on its community.

We call on Sony to consider one or more of the following options: firstly, Sony could open source LittleBigPlanet 3, thereby allowing it to be compiled on other platforms. Secondly, they could undertake an official update of the game to support community or third-party servers, which would restore online functionality. Thirdly, Sony could restart the LittleBigPlanet 3 server on their own end, implementing greater protections to resist further attacks. Lastly, if none of these options is feasible, Sony should consider partially refunding all owners of LittleBigPlanet 3, as the game is presently crippled without its online functionality.

As players and fans, we implore Sony for a response. The failure to support and sustain the server translates to a failure to support and sustain the LittleBigPlanet 3 community. A game should not be deserted because of lack of initiative to fortify against attacks. We urge Sony to rectify this issue, rekindle the passion and commitment to LittleBigPlanet 3, and reinstate its online functionality.
