Demand Sheetz apologize and ensure food safety
The Issue
For nearly three years, I dedicated myself to working at Sheetz. During this time, I witnessed many ethical missteps, but nothing shook me more than what I experienced on Wednesday, July 15th, at 9:27 pm. My Hospitality Manager was putting flavoring syrups through the dishwasher—a practice that exposed these products to harmful chemicals, posing a serious threat to consumer safety.
When I voiced my concern, hoping the company would correct this oversight, I found myself facing unexpected resistance. Managers were not worried about the potential health risks, but rather, they seemed more concerned that I was "making a big deal" about it. This blatant disregard for community safety drove me to confront not only managers and district managers but also human resources, a third-party employee hotline, and even escalated the issue by emailing CEO Travis Sheetz and contacting outside agencies.
Yet, despite these efforts, my concerns were dismissed, leaving me no choice but to spearhead action on my own. I am calling upon Sheetz corporate leadership to acknowledge the potential danger this unsafe syrup handling poses to consumers and to issue a public apology.
More importantly, Sheetz must establish strict safety protocols ensuring that all consumable products are handled with the highest sanitation standards to prevent any chemical contamination. This simple step is necessary to restore customer confidence and prioritize the health and well-being of the community.
Please join me in urging Sheetz to address and rectify this pressing issue. It is our collective responsibility to hold corporations accountable for actions that put us at risk. Sign this petition to demand corporate responsibility, ensuring a safer experience for all Sheetz customers. Your voice can make a difference.
