We, the first graduating class of our new Career and Technical Education (CTE) school in Uniondale, NY, are being forced to share our graduation ceremony with Hempstead Academy. Despite being told we are "one school", we have not shared any activities or events over the past four years - even amidst a global pandemic. This is a significant moment in our lives that we deserve to celebrate amongst ourselves. Despite repeated objections and numerous individuals speaking up against this decision, our wishes for a separate graduation ceremony have been ignored. This is not just about tradition; it's about respect and recognition for our unique journey as the inaugural class of this new institution. We urge you to support us in demanding that school administrators honor their commitment to student voice and allow us to have a separate graduation ceremony.
