The Issue

Every daughter deserves to feel safe in her own country. Yet, in India, the persistent threat of violence against women and girls has created an environment where fear prevails over freedom. How many more daughters must we lose before meaningful change is enacted?

This issue is deeply personal to me, as it is to many others who cherish the safety and dignity of our daughters, sisters, and mothers. The news stories of assaults, harassment, and violence targeting women in India continue to surface with alarming frequency. Each incident is not just a statistic, but a human life affected, a family shattered, and a community left in anguish. According to the National Crime Records Bureau, a crime against a woman is reported every three minutes in India. This is a crisis that calls for urgency and immediate action.

To address this, we call upon the Indian government to implement stronger legal actions and reforms aimed at protecting women. These include:

1. Expedite the judicial process for cases of violence against women to ensure timely justice.
2. Enhance law enforcement training to handle such cases with sensitivity and without bias.
3. Increase public awareness campaigns to change societal attitudes towards women and ensure they aren't blamed or stigmatized post-incident.
4. Establish swift and effective channels for reporting and addressing crimes against women.

A commitment to transform these proposals into practice will show not just a political statement but an ethical stand for the rights and dignity of women in India.

We urge the leaders, policymakers, and responsible authorities to listen to this plea for justice and protection. Let us not wait for another tragic headline before substantive measures are taken.

Please join in signing this petition to demand the safety and security our daughters rightfully deserve. Together, we can pave the way for a future where every daughter in India can live without fear.
