Dear Concerned Citizens, 

If the New York City Transit system is indeed safe as claimed, why do MTA Chairman Janno Lieber and NYCT President Richard Davey travel with armed security while using the system? Shouldn't they rely on the protection of the NYPD as the rest of us do, whether we use the system for work or travel?

It's time we stop being pacified with manipulated crime data that portrays a safe system on paper, while in reality, negligent acts of violence such as mass shootings, murders, robberies, sexual assaults, slashings, assaults, and other felonies occur on a daily basis.

We are troubled by the apparent collusion between the NYPD and the MTA to deliberately misclassify crimes that should be felonies as misdemeanors. This act is not just a political maneuver, but a dangerous game that puts every New Yorker who rides the MTA at risk. 

We demand transparency, accountability, and safety. If the NYCT system is as safe as Lieber and Davey claim, they should forfeit their armed detail, thus saving taxpayers' money, and rely on the NYPD like the rest of us.
