Demand Safer and More Efficient Bus Services in Our Neighborhoods
Demand Safer and More Efficient Bus Services in Our Neighborhoods
The Issue
As a resident frequently navigating the challenges of crossing a busy two-lane highway, I know first-hand the dangers pedestrians encounter due to the absence of safe and efficient bus services in certain neighborhoods. Many of us share these experiences and feel that SEPTA's "Bus Revolution" has fallen short in meeting our needs, often placing us in unsafe situations.
In the U.S, more than 6,500 pedestrian fatalities occur each year, many of these due to dangerous crossing situations in the absence of appropriate public transportation (Source: National Safety Council). It is high time this issue is addressed in our own neighborhoods. We deserve to feel secure while commuting or crossing our streets, and for that to happen, SEPTA needs to reinforce bus services and pedestrian safety conditions where they are noticeably lacking.
This is not only a call for safer bus services and pedestrian conditions, but also a leap towards more community-focused public transportation that understands and caters to its users' needs.
Join me in demanding that SEPTA re-evaluates their bus services in high-traffic areas and prioritizes the safety of our neighbourhood's pedestrians. Please sign this petition today to signal your support and force a change for safer bus services.
