Demand Road Repair in Applewood Condominium Subdivision to Prioritize Senior Safety

The Issue

We are distressed residents of a vibrant over-55 community in the Applewood Condominium subdivision on Apple Blossom Lane in Washington, MO. As such, we feel compelled to address an issue that directly threatens the wellbeing of our seniors: hazardous road conditions.

Our streets, where we as seniors walk for exercise, are riddled with uneven, broken, and eroding concrete. This poses a significant fall risk—an issue that should not be taken lightly in an age group where one in four seniors experiences a serious fall each year, according to the National Council on Aging. These falls can lead to hip fractures, head injuries, and other significant trauma, leading to decreased independence and quality of life.

Our appeal is simple: we urge the local public safety and street department to perform an extensive review and commence urgent repair works in our subdivision. This is not merely a matter of comfort or visual appeal; it's a matter of life, health, and dignity.

Seniors in Washington, and in particular, our residents, should not have to fear their daily walks turning into medical emergencies. For the sake of our safety, we have to act now. Please sign our petition and lend your support to this cause.
