The Issue

As a long-term resident of Summerlake in Madison County, I deeply care about the community we've built together. Like many of my neighbors, I have made a significant investment in my home and I cherish the daily interactions I have with my fellow residents. However, one pressing issue affects us all—the state of our roads.

Our roads are more than just pathways; they are lifelines to our community, enabling us to work, socialize, and stay connected. Unfortunately, the road conditions in Summerlake have been steadily declining. Many of our streets are plagued with potholesand cracks from end to end. These conditions not only damage our vehicles but also pose safety hazards to drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike.

A study in the Journal of Infrastructure Systems found that deteriorating roadways can increase vehicle operating costs by up to 34%, not to mention the risk they pose to public safety. Furthermore, according to a report by the American Society of Civil Engineers, poor road conditions contribute significantly to traffic congestion and significantly elevate the chances of accidents.

We urge Madison County to take immediate action by conducting a comprehensive assessment of the roads in Summerlake. Based on this assessment, we need a detailed plan for necessary upgrades and updates. This plan should prioritize critical areas needing urgent attention and establish a timeline for improvements. By doing so, we can ensure smooth roads beneath our wheels.

Our community's rightful demand is a commitment to infrastructure quality that safeguards the well-being and prosperity of all residents. We believe this is achievable with prompt and dedicated action from our local government.

Please join me in signing this petition to demand a better road infrastructure for our beloved Summerlake community. Together, we can drive change and ensure our neighborhood thrives.
