Demand Resignation of Gen Sir Gwyn Jenkins

Demand Resignation of Gen Sir Gwyn Jenkins
The Issue
General Sir Gwyn Jenkins has been accused of failing to report crucial evidence of war crimes committed by the Special Air Service (SAS) in Afghanistan. This is not just a matter of oversight; it is a gross miscarriage of justice that undermines the very foundation of military ethics and accountability. His actions, or lack thereof, betray the trust placed upon him by not only the military but by the global community as well.
Moreover, under his leadership, there has been a systematic rejection of UK resettlement claims made by Afghan troops, known as "the Triples," who served alongside British special forces. This deliberate obstruction of justice appears to be a stratagem to bury any witness testimony or further evidence of these war crimes. Such a blatant abuse of power cannot and should not be ignored.
Promoting such a figure who would allow this to a higher rank is not just a mutely unforgivable move but sends a negligent message that ethical breaches and war crimes can be overlooked if one holds enough power. This, potentially, sets a dangerous precedent within military ranks and beyond, illustrating that individuals can ascend in power despite having tarnished reputations or histories of injustice.
Furthermore, we demand that the as yet unnamed UK Special Forces officer who personally rejected 1,585 resettlement applications from Afghans with credible links to special forces in 2023 alone, (and who is currently under investigation for their role in the unforgivable war crimes involving children and innocent civilians), be named and held accountable for these crimes and for intentionally attempting to further pervert the course of justice.
This petition calls upon the government to demand the immediate resignation of Gen Sir Gwyn Jenkins, holding him to account for his inability to uphold the core values expected of someone in his position. Inaction condones the continued suffering of the affected Afghan troops and further endangers those who dare to speak out.
Sign this petition to urge our leaders to act decisively, reinforcing a zero-tolerance approach to war crimes and ensuring those who obstruct justice face the consequences. By demanding accountability today, we can hope for a future where such grievous breaches of justice are met with swift and unwavering action.
To remain silent is to remain complicit; without accountability there is no change. Systematic injustice must be fought at all levels so that those with the power to destroy lives think twice about doing so.
