Demand removal of Flock Safety cameras in Tulsa and surrounding areas
The Issue
As an Oklahoman, I’m outraged that Flock Safety’s surveillance cameras are turning our communities into police states. Their partnership with ICE terrorizes immigrant families, and their AI-powered racial profiling disproportionately targets Black and Hispanic residents. These cameras aren’t keeping us safe—they’re eroding trust in law enforcement and violating our Fourth Amendment rights. It’s time Tulsa and surrounding areas stand up for freedom, not fascism.
The installation of these cameras in Tulsa and surrounding areas has raised serious concerns regarding citizens' privacy rights and safety. Flock Safety's collaboration with ICE means these cameras are not merely stationary watchmen of crime but tools of oppression for immigrant communities, subjecting many to constant surveillance and fear of separation. Immigrant families, many of whom contribute immensely to the societal fabric of Oklahoma, should feel safe rather than harassed.
Furthermore, Flock Safety's technology, which ostensibly recognizes potential criminal threats, relies on algorithms that inadvertently perpetuate racial bias. This has resulted in undue racial profiling and unnecessary tensions, disproportionately affecting our Black and Hispanic communities. Our streets and neighborhoods in Tulsa and Sand Springs belong to everyone, and living without fear of biased surveillance should be a right enjoyed by all residents.
It is crucial to act now by removing these cameras to restore trust between the public and law enforcement agencies. Alternatives that respect privacy and uphold justice, such as community policing initiatives and enhancing public engagement programs with law enforcement, should be pursued to ensure safety.
Join me in demanding that the cities of Tulsa and surrounding areas immediately dismantle all Flock Safety cameras. By signing this petition, you will be advocating for a just Oklahoma that values privacy, freedom, and the dignity of every citizen.
