Demand Regulation of Lime Bikes for Public Safety

Demand Regulation of Lime Bikes for Public Safety
The Issue
Lime bikes have become a scourge on our communities — from residents who are blind, those relying on wheelchairs for mobility, the elderly, to mothers maneuvering prams. This petition is deeply personal; we've witnessed the adversity that these unregulated, randomly strewn bicycles pose to us and our neighbours.
These bikes, which have been left cluttered in walkways and access points, pose an unexpected - and sometimes unseen - hurdle. Particularly affected are the visually impaired, who may not be able to detect the obstacle in their path, leading to accidents. In addition, the elderly, mothers with baby strollers, and wheelchair users often find their path blocked, leading to unnecessary diversions, hassle, and at times potential accidents.
We are calling on local authorities to enforce strict rules and regulations on Lime bikes- to ensure that they are returned and stored correctly, not abandoned unsafely on streets and sidewalks, causing an obstruction and potential hazard. This petition is driven by a desire for safety and accessibility for all members of our community. They are being hired mostly by young adults who are totally irresponsible for any consequences they cause.
The lime bikes are heavy and hard to move and are left blocking driveways. Moving them is very difficult and can cause damage to anyone attempting to move it from their driveway etc.
They can be costly too: the bikes have fallen onto parked cars, causing hundreds of pounds' worth of damage and no way of finding out who has dumped it and the company is not approachable.
Also, the young adults have found a way to hack and bypass paying for the rental.
THERE HAS TO BE A SYSTEM OF RETURNING THE BIKES AT A DOCK OR PAY A HEAVY FINE.
Please, sign this petition and join the fight for a safer, more accessible environment for everyone in our community.
