Demand refund of UK taxpayer funds sent to France

The Issue

I am deeply concerned about how the British taxpayers' money is being spent, and it's personal to me because the funds allocated to France to curb immigration have not yielded the desired results. A considerable amount of British taxpayer money has been given to France to help manage and control illegal immigration across their borders to the UK. Despite this financial commitment, France has not effectively managed to prevent illegal immigration, thus failing in its agreement.

In recent years, the UK government has allocated millions to France to bolster border security and prevent illegal crossings. According to the National Audit Office, over £54 million was allocated solely for this purpose. However, since the agreement was established, the number of illegal crossings has only increased, with more than 28,000 illegal migrants crossing the English Channel in small boats in 2021 alone, as reported by the Home Office.

This raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of this investment and whether British taxpayers should bear the cost of an unfulfilled deal. For too long, our hard-earned money has been seen to be wasted without transparency or observable improvements in border control by the French.

We urge the UK government to take immediate action by negotiating a reimbursement of these funds from France. It's imperative to hold those in power accountable and ensure taxpayer money is used effectively, especially in matters of national security and immigration control that directly affect our country.

To this end, we are petitioning Parliament to investigate the results of this financial transaction and provide clarity on its impact. Taxpayers deserve a full refund or a detailed explanation of how these funds have been utilized effectively.

Join me in calling for the UK government to reclaim our taxpayer money. Let's make sure our voices are heard and that fiscal responsibility is enforced. Sign this petition to demand justice and accountability for British taxpayers.
