I am excited to share this news with you. The toxic environment that has existed for years is a result of Valerie Beckett. With her reassigned and Michael Mendel out as director, we hope that the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and the county manager, Joy Rich, realize that what they have been doing is not working. We have no plans of going away because we have yet to see anything that indicates that they will be transparent in the hiring process, partner with the community, take a progressive stance, and work tirelessly to save lives. Last month the save rate dropped below 90% for the first time in 6 years. They have penalized the non-profit I co-founded by not allowing our successful public dog walks. They do not treat sick dogs, they are not accurately assessing dogs, and they are killing for space and deterioration that they have caused. They must do better and the hope is that they will.
