Today we were informed of two 7 month old Schnauzer mixes who were deemed to dangerous to be allowed to live. Typically, fearful dogs are placed on a special portal where rescues can save them. The incompetent supervisors determined that these dogs wouldn't even be allowed to be rescued.

What had they done that was so terrible? They growled and cowered in their kennels. What is even worse is that they were held in a home for 3 weeks and the finder said they were happy and friendly, although they did bark at strangers. They have no bite on their records and their is absolutely no reason they needed to be killed.  Within a half an hour of posting the situation and asking the community to email, management allowed a rescue to take them.

This paints a picture of shelter in chaos. They either fire or push out qualified staff and they have no one in any supervisorial or management role that advocates for animals. We will continue to fight for dogs like this and for a reformed shelter. The abuse and dysfunction are evident daily. They just fired a dedicated staff member 2 days ago and wouldn't even tell her why. They reinstated a managed stray intake policy that had a disastrous rollout last month. The bad news just keeps coming so please continue to help us let people know the truth.

We will continue fighting and we are counting on you to help.

Thanks,

Lorena
