Petition updateDemand Reform for Maricopa County Animal Care and Control in Phoenix, ArizonaRetaliation by MCACC Management Against Whistleblowers

Instead of doing the challenging work of building relationships with the community they serve, the 'leadership' at MCACC has decided to silence their critics.

We honestly did not think they would stoop the level they did, however they did. Two former employees had been hired by a non-profit new to the Phoenix area. One had already starting working for this organization and the other was to start work this week. Both employees had been treated poorly during their time at MCACC, but especially at the end. After each had turned in their 2 week notice, they were informed that they were terminated and escorted out of the building. Crystal Enojos, the deputy director, informed both that under state law she did not have to tell them why they were fired/terminated.

Both individuals posted what happened to them. Nothing was fabricated but they shared the events. Upon learning of their employment, Valerie Beckett, assistant county manager, called the CEO of the non-profit and her phone call resulted in both individuals being fired from their new positions.

We foresee this administration targeting critics instead of actual working to solve the many problems at MCACC. We implore you to:

1. Share the petition and let others know what is happening.

2. Join Reform Maricopa County Animal Care and Control FB page.

3. Volunteer, foster, adopt, and/or donate to organizations that help the companion animals in your community.

Thanks,

Lorena Bader and the Reformers
