DEMAND reform at Apple Valley Animal Shelter

DEMAND reform at Apple Valley Animal Shelter
The Issue
Apple Valley Animal Shelter's kill rate is 60-80%, with 400 dogs being killed in June alone, including puppies.
The sheer laziness, disorganization and irresponsible behavior of the Apple Valley Shelter is unacceptable and the community should be outraged.
Here are a few things we DEMAND Apple Valley Shelter starts doing..
Provide a week's notice for every dog that is scheduled to be euthanized, and share the euthanize list with rescue partners, networkers, and other volunteers so that we can assist in getting the dogs out alive.
Do not take down the links that show which dogs will be euthanized so early in the morning. We need ample time to orchestrate a rescue. It is also imperative that the shelter communicate simply by email to give status updates for the dogs in question. Volunteers have been able and ready to rescue a dog, but the Apple Valley Shelter has not disclosed whether the dog was alive or dead. This shows an extreme lack of organization on the shelter's part. Providing status updates for the dogs in question is a simple task that only requires thought, standardization, and execution.
Illness is running rampant at this shelter. Address the issue of having no vets on staff at the Apple Valley Shelter. This means that dogs are not being properly quarantined and are not receiving proper medical attention. This is dangerous for rescues and adopters who take dogs from the shelter, as they are not being properly medicated and vetted.
Email the people below and express your outrage, our simple and reasonable demands!
Director of Apple Valley Shelter: Gina Whiteside gwhiteside@applevalley.org
Rescue Coordinator: Brandy avasrescues@applevalley.org
