Demand Racial Inclusivity in Shell Inc.'s Atlantic Offshore Wind Project

The Issue

My name is Segun Adegoke, a dedicated professional who has experienced racial discrimination firsthand at my job placement at the Atlantic Offshore Wind Project in New Jersey, run by Shell Inc. This personal experience is not an isolated incident but part of a larger pattern of non-inclusiveness and systemic racism that has been ongoing for years.

I am not alone. There are countless other professionals from racial minority backgrounds who have faced similar discriminatory practices within this project. Our careers have suffered significant setbacks as a result of this unfair treatment based solely on our skin color.

It's important to note that such practices are not only morally wrong but also illegal under the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), which prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin (Source: U.S Equal Employment Opportunity Commission). Yet despite these legal protections in place, racial minorities continue to face barriers to equal opportunity within Shell Inc.'s Atlantic Offshore Wind Project.

We must demand better. We call upon Shell Inc., one of the world's largest oil companies with a commitment to "power progress together through more and cleaner energy solutions" (Source: Shell.com), to live up to its promise by ensuring racial inclusivity within all its projects.

We urge you all - employees, stakeholders, and concerned citizens - to sign this petition demanding that Shell Inc. takes immediate action towards fostering an inclusive work environment free from any form of racial discrimination or bias.

Sign this petition today; let us power progress together through inclusivity and respect for all.
