Demand Privacy & Efficiency in NYPD Precincts NOW!

The Issue

Hello!

I’m Alexis Smith, Youth Health & Wellness Organizer of HerUnivercity. We're on a mission to demand privacy and efficiency for individuals visiting NYPD precincts across NYC, and we need your support to make this change a reality.

Imagine This:
You’ve just experienced a traumatic event, a victim of sexual assault, sex trafficking, or you are reporting of a missing person. You rush to the nearest precinct seeking help, only to find yourself waiting in the lobby for 40-50 minutes, surrounded by strangers, forced to speak your private details out loud. It’s humiliating and disheartening. No one should have to endure this.

Our needs assessment focuses on three key areas:

Ensuring visitors are promptly directed to the appropriate law enforcement officer.

Reducing wait times for individuals reporting crimes.

Protecting personal information in precinct lobbies.

This Isn't Just an Inconvenience; It's a Violation of Our Rights:
When you walk into a hospital, you don't announce your medical issues for everyone to hear – that would be a HIPAA violation. So why should your privacy be any less important in a precinct?

Our Goal: We need 200-300 signatures to show the NYPD that the community is united in demanding change. By signing this petition, you’re helping us create a solid paper trail and urging the NYPD to implement a new form that ensures privacy and efficiency.

We Need Your Support, Sign This Petition Now!

Your signature will help us advocate for the use of this form across NYC precincts, ensuring privacy is protected and urgent needs are promptly addressed.

By signing this petition, you are saying "YES, I approve of this precinct form." and help us demand the change the people of New York City deserves.

Our Proposed Form:

Discreet Reporting: Complete the form and submit it to the appropriate NYPD precinct staff without public disclosure.
Respect and Privacy: Protect your personal information from being broadcasted in a public lobby.
Efficient Assistance: Ensure that individuals needing immediate help are promptly addressed.

We can't wait any longer. Together, we are taking a step toward make a real difference. Please sign and share the petition now, and stand with HerUnivercity in demanding respect, privacy, and efficiency in NYPD precincts.

Our proposed form will reflect the portion of this sample form, which will include the individual's details and contact information, and will include the section that states "Check each box(s) that applies to your visit:" (section A-L).

Sample of the entry form (individual addresses reason for visit through a form, rather than publicly).
