I am one of many Philadelphians who have been affected by the harsh parking regulations enforced by the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA). A personal experience that still haunts me is when I had to cut my vacation short in Virginia, as my car was booted and towed back home. Despite being a new purchase, I almost lost my vehicle entirely due to lack of resources for retrieval. It was only through the collective efforts of friends that I managed to get it back.

This is not an isolated incident - countless others in our city face similar predicaments daily. The PPA's stringent rules and hefty fines often lead to cars being booted or towed, causing undue stress and financial strain on residents. Moreover, these penalties can linger for years, accumulating additional fees over time.

In 2019 alone, the PPA issued over 1.5 million parking tickets (source: Philadelphia Inquirer). This staggering number highlights how pervasive this issue is within our community.

We propose a solution - require the PPA to forgive all parking tickets older than five years. This will provide much-needed relief for those struggling with long-standing fines and will prevent situations like mine from happening again.
