We, the staff members of the Nigerian Ombudsman, are facing an ongoing injustice within our own institution. Despite our dedication to fighting against grassroots level injustices, we have been denied our rightful consolidated legislative salary structure (CONLESS) since October 2022. This denial is not only unjust but also in direct violation of the provisions captured in both the 2023 and 2024 government budgets.

This situation has subjected us to financial hardship and has significantly affected morale among hardworking office staff. It is a glaring example of maladministration that undermines the very principles we stand for as an institution dedicated to justice.

We call upon all concerned citizens, human rights organizations, and labor unions to join us in demanding that our political leader honor their commitment by immediately implementing payment of CONLESS as stipulated in government budgets.
