In over 115 years of surf life-saving in Australia, there has been no official Govt Audit conducted, especially for Charity & Non-for-Profit Organisations, like Ramsgate Life Saving Club, Bayside Council in NSW, multi-million dollars rort?

The Ramsgate Life Saving Club was established in 1934 by then named Rockdale City Council and was also funded currently 2023 as Ramsgate Life Saving Club. It officially celebrated 50 years of the Royal Life Saving Society in Australia in 1984, according to the club's Annual Report in 1934 – 1984, going forward a total of 88 years as Ramsgate Life Saving Club.

In 2013, Rockdale City Council spent millions of dollars of ratepayers' money refurbishing the depleted Community Centre and Ramsgate Life Saving Club.

The Ramsgate Life Saving Club Community Centre, ratepayers and senior citizens, and age-pensioners on daily basis, are shut out of the centre, they sit on park benches, outside the cafe looking bored, and they never get to use the change rooms, hot and cold showers after an early morning swim, play cards with their friends make new friends, or have coffee or watch TV with their mates or even have a laugh. No special functions are held for our senior citizens during the year, by Bayside Council at the Ramsgate Life Saving Club. The community would

largely benefit from a robust life-saving club and community centre. A prime example of how a club should be run is the Bondi Surf Life Saving Club, the oldest & first club in the world.

Bondi Surf Life Saving Club, has strong leadership, supported by Waverley Council, who take an active interest in the club by attending club functions, award nights, AGMs, funerals, who hold several free functions for the senior citizens during the festival season, Christmas Free Lunches and celebrating our War Heroes, welcoming new citizens service, training/coaching.

The only functions held regularly are cash-paying functions example hire of the hall for a large cash fee, or cash-paid nipper registration and uniforms or barbeques, for the benefit of Bayside Councillor and his family and friends, who run and own the show for over 16 years.

We are having a hot summer these few years, and thousands of people of all ages flock to our beaches, the Ramsgate Life Saving Club is NOT qualified to support and provide trained volunteer life savers, to prevent drowning or treat first aid incidents on our beaches. In a life-threatening event, no one is there to HELP, But the club is continually receiving, funds from Govt Organisations and many private and corporate sponsors.

The Bondi Surf Club donated $10,000 of rescue equipment, including a notable surf crafts manufacturing company of $5100, of gear and equipment, raffle prizes are not being utilised.

RLSC do NOT have important life-saving gear & equipment, for example, DEFIBRILLATOR, FIRST AID, RESCUE BOARDS, and RESCUE TUBES situated or stationed in strategic netted swimming areas, in times of emergency situations.

I urge other qualified organisations to conduct an independent Risk Assessment of Bayside Council safety laws.

The RLSC is NOT a proper life-saving club, ceased active patrol operation in 2008, when former President Bill Batley OAM passed away, and since then the club was slowly dismantled.

RLSC is NOT qualified to train new life savers, to be called a life-saving club, the Ramsgate community believes they do not have qualified lifesaving trainers and coaches.

RLSC is NOT a registered “Non-for-Profit Organisation” in Australia, according to Australian Charity & Non-for-Profit Organisation.

RLSC do NOT have and carry an active registered ABN number, according to Australian Charity & Non-for-Profit Organisation.

RLSC do NOT have an official bank account, CBA, ANZ, Westpac, or St George, it was admitted at the AGM on 17th July 2022, by the President, together with the above 6 items raised. The Ramsgate Community asking for an Audit to be conducted.

It was found that the President and Treasurer use their personal bank accounts to conduct daily club business, it has been going on for the past 16 years. It was admitted by the President and Treasurer in question time, at Ramsgate LSC, AGM, 17 July 2022. These matters of concern are unheard of in Australian Business and Non-for-Profit organisations.

The Bayside Council and their Councillors had failed in their “Duty-of-Care“  to monitor the ratepayers-funded Community Centre, or make our senior citizens feel welcome, including our indigenous people of the land we occupy and enjoy.

RLSC has received Hundreds of Thousands of dollars from the Bayside Council, of ratepayers' funds, State Gov, annual Community grants, and private/corporate in the past 16 years. 

This week Ramsgate LSC received $46, 205, for lifesaving resuscitation.

The Rate Payers of Bayside Council are seeking an urgent AUDIT of Ramsgate LSC

The Kogarah Police, Ref Number - I397472594, will only investigate when Bayside Council makes an Official complaint to go ahead and investigate.
