Demand No Plea Bargain for Christopher Day: Protect Children in Harper County
The Issue
My 14 year old daughter was sexually assaulted by Christopher Day as she innocently walked on the streets of Harper County. Unfortunately, she is not the first child to become a victim of this man's atrocious behavior. In case number 2024cr000076, Christopher Day stands accused of his second instance of child abuse. He remains a continuous threat to the safety of our children, infringing on their right to lead a peaceful and secure life in our community. According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, offenders with a previous sexual assault conviction are four times more likely to commit another sexual assault than those without prior convictions (NSVRC, 2015). Thus, the dangerous potential for recidivism cannot and should not be ignored. We urge the Harper County Attorney's office to consider the victims and our community's safety when handling this case. We ask that they choose justice over the expediency of a plea bargain. We demand a fair and just sentencing for Christopher Day that reflects the severity of his crimes and ensures the protection of our children. Please sign this petition to join our plea to the County Attorney. Stand with us to protect our children.
