Demand Nintendo Reverse New EULA Policy

Demand Nintendo Reverse New EULA Policy
The Issue
Nintendo's newly implemented End User License Agreement (EULA) introduces concerning terms that challenge the rights of consumers. With this updated policy, Nintendo has granted themselves the ability to remotely deactivate, or "brick," a consumer's Nintendo Switch. This drastic action can be taken under subjective terms which may not always be in the best interest of the user. Additionally, the EULA limits the consumers' rights to pursue legal action against such measures, effectively leaving them without significant recourse.
Bricking a device means rendering it unusable by altering its software, effectively transforming it into a non-functional system. Such measures should only be implemented under extreme circumstances where the consumer has engaged in unlawful or harmful behavior. However, leaving such decisions entirely at Nintendo’s discretion without transparent guidelines is alarming.
Moreover, the clause preventing legal lawsuits restricts consumers from seeking justice or raising concerns about potential misuses of this power. This policy sets a dangerous precedent, not just for Nintendo fans, but for all technology consumers, as it might encourage other companies to adopt similar overreaching policies.
We appreciate Nintendo as a leading innovator in the gaming industry, bringing joy and entertainment to millions. However, this policy change is a step back from consumer rights and fair business practices. We urge Nintendo to reconsider this new EULA, to protect the rights of its loyal users, and foster a fair relationship based on trust and cooperation.
Sign this petition to call upon Nintendo to revoke or modify the current EULA policy, ensuring it aligns with fair consumer rights and practices, and supports a more balanced and just approach.
