Recently, a heartbreaking and horrific incident occurred—the senseless assault of a five-year-old girl, the details of which are unimaginable: a case where a screwdriver was used as part of the crime. Despite the gravity of this atrocity, the response from our District Attorney was alarmingly inadequate. Instead of seeking justice for the victim, the perpetrator received merely a slap on the wrist, a response that defies the expectations of justice and safety we demand for our children.

Moreover, Ms. Ziccarelli's unwillingness to prosecute individuals caught by groups such as the Presd Hunters, who work tirelessly to protect our communities from potential threats, further highlights a concerning trend. Her decisions show a stark contrast: while strict on blue-collar crimes, when it comes to our children, the penalties seem disconcertingly light.

The implications of such a stance are severe—every unchecked action of such a nature not only endangers the immediate victims but also sets a dangerous precedent, signaling to potential offenders that Westmoreland County is a place where justice is not served.

Our children deserve better—they deserve protection from predators and prosecution that fits the crimes committed against them.
