Demand More Support for Parents Dealing with Child to Parent Abuse

The Issue

Our story begins over a difficult, painful, and incredibly isolating 11-month journey. As a family, we have been enduring the daily struggle of abuse at the hands of a child - my own daughter - who herself is grappling with undiagnosed mental health challenges. Despite her receiving necessary support, we as parents have felt lost, with minimal assistance available to us.

An estimated 1 in 10 parents experience what we have come to know as Child to Parent Abuse (CPA), and yet, support services remain regrettably infrequent and under-resourced. This unacceptable void leaves parents, like us, left to fend for themselves amidst an incredibly personal and challenging ordeal.

We are calling upon our Child Services agencies to step up and do more. There is a dire need for planned respite for parents and families in our situation; the provision of a temporary relief is not a luxury, but a necessity for families overwhelmed by the complex issues surrounding CPA.

Help us bring the much-needed change. Stand with us in demanding that Child Services expand their support for families grappling with CPA, to include not only essential respite, but also targeted assistance for the parents themselves who are often left feeling alone and without any semblance of support. Each signature brings us closer to a world where parents don't have to suffer in silence; a world that recognises and addresses CPA with the seriousness it deserves. Sign our petition today.
