Demand Meta to Stop Wrongful Disabling of Innocent Users' Accounts
Demand Meta to Stop Wrongful Disabling of Innocent Users' Accounts
The Issue
My name is amongst millions. I represent a burgeoning crowd of innocent people whose voices have been silenced due to Meta's system wrongfully disabling our accounts. And when we dare to fight back by creating new profiles, those too face the same unmerited fate. This systematic silencing is unacceptable, considering Meta's claims of fostering diverse online communities. Their actions directly contradict their purported values, reinstalling neither trust nor faith in their platform.
Furthermore, the gravity of this issue grows when one notes the timelines. These unfair actions have been placing more frequently during midterm elections and election cycles. This timing is troubling and raises more questions about the integrity of the platform.
As stated by the Pew Research Centre, as of 2021, seven-in-ten American adults use Facebook, with a large majority visiting the site daily. (source: Pew Research Center, "Social Media Use in 2021" April 2021) With such a broad user base, the number of innocent people who could potentially be affected by this wrongful disabling is staggering.
We need Meta to acknowledge this issue and reform its processes. It is time for Mark Zuckerberg to listen to these concerns and bring about positive change in how Meta operates. This is not just about reclaiming digital spaces; it's about preserving the values of freedom, fairness, and diversity that Meta itself claims to support. Sign this petition to demand accountability from Meta for wrongfully disabling accounts and to request the implementation of a fairer and more transparent system. People can’t reach out to support and cannot find anyway to appeal the suspension, this is so unacceptable and wrong! Meta need to respect people’s right on their platforms, accounts should not disabled unless user reports the accounts and unless their report are accurate
