When I delved into Lindsay Clancy’s case, I was deeply moved by the civil case her husband, Patrick Clancy, has put forward and the Civil Case Lindsay has submitted. It was eye opening, to see the amount effort Lindsay made to receive the mental health treatment she needed. After hearing just a few days of her trial; it seems that she was desperate for help and never got the proper care. It struck a chord with me, unraveling a story of a woman crying out for help in a system that continuously failed her. What Lindsay needs right now is proper mental health support, not incarceration. Her situation highlights the severe deficiencies within our mental health system, where the vulnerable are left without the care they desperately need. This especially is significant to woman experiencing Postpartum Mental Health Depression or Psychosis. 

Lindsay Clancy's ordeal is a stark reminder of the urgent need to change how we handle mental health crises in this country.  Instead of receiving the timely and effective mental health care she needed, Lindsay is now facing the prospect of imprisonment, which does nothing to address the root of her challenges.

This is not just about Lindsay; it's about rethinking our approach to mental health across the entire system. Especially, Postpartum mental health care for woman and education for their significant others on how to recognize signs of mental illness and how to be proactive to get immediate help. Incarceration should not be the default solution for those suffering from severe mental health issues. Instead, we need to prioritize treatment facilities that can provide the long-term care and support necessary for individuals like Lindsay. Our focus should be on healing and rehabilitation in the proper location. I do not support the actions that Lindsay took while in crisis, but also believe that she should be in a mental health facility over incarceration.
