Demand MCAZ to Revoke License of Veterinary Distributors in Bulawayo for Misusing Prescription Medicines
Demand MCAZ to Revoke License of Veterinary Distributors in Bulawayo for Misusing Prescription Medicines
The Issue
My personal journey began when I discovered that countless animal owners have been presenting animals with issues stemming from the inappropriate use of vaccines and prescription medicines. This is a direct result of Veterinary Distributors, particularly their Bulawayo branch, dispensing these medicines without prescriptions and without due care to unauthorized persons. This lack of responsibly-held control is not just unethical but is also significantly contributing to Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR), a global health issue. According to a report from the World Health Organization, AMR threatens the effective prevention and treatment of an ever-increasing range of infections caused by bacteria, parasites, viruses, and fungi, where of course animals are not an exception. The Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) needs to intervene to halt this dangerous practice. We call upon MCAZ to review the license given to Veterinary Distributors in Bulawayo and take decisive efforts to prevent the undue dispensing of prescription medicines. Hold these entities responsible for their actions. Sign this petition to ensure the health of our animals and prevent further enhancement of Anti-Microbial Resistance.
