The Issue

I am writing this petition after personally enduring the exploitation that runs rampant within companies in Missouri. Workers' rights are overlooked as employees are overworked without the provision of rest breaks. This experience put my physical and mental health at stake, as it did for numerous others in similar circumstances. In these companies, we face low wages and demanding physical labor, sacrificing quality time with our families. This rush towards fatigue and health deterioration is unsustainable, unjust, and calls for immediate correction.

To address this critical concern, we call upon the Missouri State Legislature. We necessitate the enactment of legislation requiring employers to offer paid 15-minute rest breaks to employees after 4 hours of work. By this measure, we aim to instill fairness, promote workers' well-being, and usher in a healthier, more productive workforce across Missouri.

It is significant to note: employees' health and well-being are directly linked to short breaks during the workday. Research has proven these moments of respite to enhance productivity and overall worker satisfaction (source: American Journal of Industrial Medicine).

I urge you to stand with me in this fight for Missouri workers’ rights, physical health, mental wellness, and fair work standards. By signing this petition, we put necessary pressure on our lawmakers to foster a equitable work environment. Your signature will serve as a testimony for the urgent need for change. Let us break the chains of worker exploitation; demand mandatory paid rest breaks now.
