Demand MAA Brookwood Compensate Tenants for Uninhabitable Conditions
The Issue
My pregnant girlfriend and I have been suffering in our MAA Brookwood apartment for the last few months with no air conditioning. Despite severe heat, management has consistently refused to provide portable units to keep us cool. The ordeal doesn’t end there—the incessant false fire alarms that happen on average 3 times a month. they are loud and damaging to our ears. I work from home so they end up leading to missed work and irreparable harm to our wellbeing. We hoped to find relief by asking management to break the lease due to “non-habitable environments” but were denied again & told we were forced to pay $10,000 penalty if we wanted to vacate the premises.
The grievances of many tenants highlight an escalating pattern of neglect. Broken air conditioning units, ongoing false fire alarms, flooding due to sprinkler pipe bursts, and the looming threat of black mold underscore the dire conditions at MAA Brookwood. These pervasive issues are making life unbearable for many, who, like us, pay exorbitant monthly rents of $2,700, yet cannot enjoy even the basic comforts and safety of home.
MAA Brookwood management must be held accountable for subjecting tenants to such unacceptable living conditions. By compensating tenants for the hardship endured and taking proactive measures to resolve these property-wide issues, a fair outcome can be achieved. Immediate action is required to make our homes safe, comfortable, and true havens as they should be.
Sign this petition to urge MAA Brookwood management to address these significant problems urgently and provide due compensation to all affected tenants. Together, we can demand the change that reflects the responsible and caring management we deserve.
