UPDATE - PETITION RE-OPENED

 

This petition was recently closed as it was alleged that Lennox owners were now speaking with an animal shelter in the UK. However after checking where the law stands on this, it would make no sense what so ever that they would be speaking with a shelter under UK law, nor for a shelter bound by UK Law to be speaking with them because:

 

1) This would mean Lennox is still within UK borders and so still deemed a dangerous dog. If the court were to release him into the care of a UK animal shelter (which they wouldn’t as this would be breaking the law) he would immediately be seized and destroyed.

2) If by a miracle the court did allow the release of Lennox to a UK Shelter,

a)Belfast court would be guilty themselves of giving as a gift an animal that has been deemed a dangerous dog to somewhere within UK borders

b) The Shelter themselves would be guilty of breaking the dangerous dog act as they would be accepting such an animal within UK borders.

2) The only chance Lennox has is with a shelter in Southern Ireland.

 

So yet another question needs to be asked...Why would Lennox family be in negotiations with a shelter that would not by law be able to to offer Lennox any alternative?

 

Considering the above, please do sign and share this petition in hopes the Barnes family will negotiate with a shelter in Southern Ireland, but also sign and share the following petition, the one option that is in my opinion the more likely to give Lennox a chance at "Real" Freedom.

DEMAND LENNOX'S FAMILY CONSIDER OTHER OPTIONS AND ALLOW HIM THE CHANCE OF LIFE

 

What Lennox Supporters do know: On the 19th May 2010, Lennox, a five year old American Bull dog Labrador cross was wrongfully seized by Belfast City Council Dog Wardens from his loving family home where he lives with his owners and his kennel mates. Lennox committed no crime nor did any member of the public complain about him. Three Belfast City Council Dog Wardens came with the PSNI to his home unannounced. The Dog Wardens then told the Police to leave as there was no need for them at the location. The Belfast City Council Dog Wardens then had tea with his owners, smoked cigarettes, chatted, played with the other family dogs after which the Dog Wardens then measured Lennox’s muzzle and rear legs with a dress maker’s tape measure and decided on those measurements without seeking any professional advice that he was possible “Pit Bull Type Breed” and so he was led from his home to be put to death by the Council.

Sadly the court have recently ruled upon the councils application, and rightly or wrongly have agreed with the council and have ordered Lennox to be destroyed.

 

Lennox on Death Row - Photographs of Lennox have emerged recently and have been passed to the family which clearly show Lennox in a cold inhumane concrete kennel which is visibly too small, there are no visible signs of a constant fresh water supply, heating, toys for stimulation and the photographs show Lennox sitting upright in a box type bed surrounded by his own faeces with only saw dust for bedding which many dog experts have agreed is harmful to dogs and unsuitable for bedding, yet Belfast City Council Dog Wardens Department have stated they practice humane animal welfare as set out by the DARD (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development). After studying the Animal Welfare Act 2006 it is clear that none of Lennox’s welfare needs are being met at this undisclosed Council contracted kennel

The Public’s Reaction - Because of the above literally thousands from across the globe quite rightly have joined the campaign to save Lennox. Sending messages to Lennox family,supporting Lennox family,offering Lennox family help and support in various forms as would normally be expected...

 

The Families Reaction - As for Lennox's family they have as you would expect reacted just like any other family of a dog that has been unjustly took from their side, and them doing everything in their power to save him....at least that is how it appears doesn’t it?

 

 

 

WHAT LENNOX SUPPORTERS SHOULD KNOW

 

Quite a few from the international community though empathised with Lennox's family were more concerned with Lennox himself. After all, this entire campaign, this injustice has been about Lennox hasn’t it? 

Leading up to the main hearing:

Belfast City Council was ready to present its case on Tuesday 23 November with expert advice that the dog is of the pitbull terrier type and is also dangerous. Case adjourned for the third time following an application from the defendants.
Defendants fail to serve papers as requested by the court in regards to the expert.
Solcitors due to represent the defendants apply to come off record.

Main Hearing

Previously owner continually denied her pet was a banned breed, confirms he is.

After the judgement was made, on the Save Lennox FB Page time and again the family were asked if they were going to not only focus on an appeal, but also put forward another option for the court to take into consideration. One that if the court refuses the overturn their original decision, would allow Lennox the chance to live and be re-homed.

The option, that by law the Lennox family are allowed to add to the application for appeal was to allow another who lives outside of the Pitbull banned area to offer Lennox a home, and for this to be put before the judge at the appeal. Or if not an individual then an animal shelter, again who resides outside of the Pitbull ban area.

 

Alarm Bells Ringing - When the family simply refused to acknowledge this second option, telling supporters that this wasn’t possible,that by law the family were unable to consider this, it wouldn’t be allowed. International alarm bells started to ring. Because this was wholly inaccurate. The fact of the matter is that prior to the court hearing the family had many options available to them, including requesting the court to allow Lennox to be transported to an animal shelter that would be willing to care and rehome Lennox. Something that had been achieved previously with the help of a local animals shelter.

 

These alarm bells starting ringing even louder when the family released an official reqiest through the admin of the FB Page “ The family would like to be given a few days to get over the recent judgement” Now I don’t know about you, but doesn’t this sound just a bit too Hollywood? It did to quite a few people , including the author of this petition.

 

The same supporters whose alarm bells started to ring, continued to post (politely) on the Save Lennox FB page, urging the family to give Lennox the chance of survival, and reminding them that they were not the ones who mattered here, it was Lennox.

 

The families reaction to 1) The suggestion this was not about them, it was about Lennox, 2) Questioning why they wouldn’t consider another avenue that will allow Lennox his freedom and inturn a chance to escape execution....

THEY BANNED THEM FROM POSTING ON LENNOX FB PAGE!!!!!

 

Undeterred: Because Lennox is still in danger and it apparently appeared that his family were refusing to consider probably the only viable option that would allow him his freedom and a chance to escape the executioner..Supporters of Lennox contacted Local shelters in Ireland in hopes that they would contact Lennoxs family and offer them the advice and help which could subsequently save Lennox..After all, isn’t this the campaign slogan....to Save Lennox?

 

Imagine how horrified we were to learn the following from a local Pitbull Animal shelter that had previously saved dogs in the same situation as Lennox...

Lennox and all I got back from the owners was threats, abuse and

slander, both privately as well as on the internet.

 

My offer to help Lennox still stands but the owners have not been in

touch, so there is nothing I can do.

THE HORRIFIC FACTS

*The owners knew the dog was a banned breed in their area, yet still brought him into their home!

*The owners did not at any point make an application to propose Lennox be made the responsibility of an animal shelter out of the banned area that could rehabilitate him, even though such organisations had contacted the family with offers of help.

*His family have refused help that could have saved him from Death Row

*Lennox confirmed a Pitbull type breed by the court and his family is now on death row

*His family still refuse help that could free him in fear that this organisation would get attention!!!

*Would have supporters of Lennox believe there has been no, nor is any alternative routes

*Ban supporters of Lennox who question their lack of actions and who suggest valid options that could (as has happened in previous cases) Free a Pitbull from death row.

 

Now consider the following:

IMPORTANT QUESTIONS SUPPORTERS OF LENNOX SHOULD BE ASKING.

 

*Why then considering the above, would the family continually refuse to accept help that could have months ago released Lennox from being forced to live in the vile reported conditions of his containment?

*Why do they still refuse such help, and maintain taking an option that is far less likely to save Lennox life?

*Why would they ban supporters of Lennox who bring up alternative options that could save Lennox life?

 

 

POSSIBLE ANSWERS:

 

*Whilst Lennox is incarceration, they are receiving a huge amount of press and public attention, including a donation fund! (check out Latest News on http://www.savelennoxblog.co.uk/)

*Whilst Lennox stays on death row, the family are receiving more attention from the public then they would ever be able to attain for themselves

*When Lennox is executed, the attention they are receiving may slightly subside,but will still to a degree remain

*If Lennox was saved and re-homed to a loving family,was no longer under threat of death, Press and Public attention would be lost, and of course (though we are not suggesting this is important for the family) the donation fund for the "Dog behaviourist" etc.

This petition is to demand that Lennox family allows the option of Lennox being rehomed to be put before the court, and that they stop refusing and abusing organisations and people who could save Lennox from the executioner.

4th April 2011

As I suspected and to be honest predicted would be the case, I received today this messagel from Lennox's owner.

What the reader of this petition or the following message that has been copied and pasted directly from my inbox chooses to make of it, is entirely up to you. I have bolded the text that I view either disturbing,threatening,bizzare or incorrect.

I have also included my personal response to them at the end to ensure that nothing is kept from anyone interested in this matter. Of course the comments I make to them in my response represents my personal opinion, of which by law I am legally entitled to hold. What the reader of this chooses to take from either correspondence is up to them.

Message Recieved 04/04/2011 -Hi Kendra, just wanted to let you know details on said petition are currently in the hands of Solicitor. You have failed to mention ALL the facts and have actually misled those into signing your petition. We are fully aware of Sarah and Clare's intentions and those details have also been passed to the Solicitor. 

EGAR have never contacted the Family of Lennox at anytime... ever! The Family have been looking into options of moving Lennox to a UK mainland rescue shelter where he will be close by a Family member but this option will only be allowed by the courts and is currently ongoing. 

By setting up your hateful petition and by allowing a private email address to be spammed you are effectively helping to murder Lennox as important emails arrive to the private email address you have supplied to those who are signing and due to continuous spamming important emails about the Lennox Family case are being missed.

The Family will NOT consider allowing those who are interested in the publicity for themselves through Lennox's name become involved in his case and insure those involved in this hateful campaign that they are the people being mislead by you and those who you support. You and those you support have cried out for attention online and in the media and now you have got your attention!

"We are fully aware of Sarah and Clare's intentions and those details have also been passed to the Solicitor" I have no idea of anyone intentions,I am not concerned with petty squabbles you have with others or what you think anothers intention is. My concern lies solely with Lennox

It contains only information from original sources,the sole intention of that petition was to do something that by your own admissions on FB and by verified correspondence from first parties  that you were not willing to even contemplate. I would say the denial of introducing all options to save Lennox is far more hateful than simply presenting facts from first sources, much from your own website

Understand this very clearly - I do not give a jot about gaining attention, I do not share the obvious need you have for that. What I and thousands like me do have, is concern for Lennox, and that quite litterally is the bottomn line. Though you seemingly have lost sight of that along the way, prefering it seems to believe there is some personal plot to steal the limelight from you.

I wonder who it is you actually presume I am supporting? It is with great interest I note you are assigning sides here. This in itself suggests that you are infact biased towards another, or an organistion.

Which part of :My allegiance is only with Lennox, you nor nayone else is important to me..are you having problems understanding here?
