Demand Legislation to Outlaw Cannabis

The Issue

  1. My life and the lives of many around me have been ravaged by the effects of cannabis, a substance that is all too accessible in our society. This substance, commonly known as weed, has transformed communities into places of fear and oppression, with young and old falling into its clutches every day.

Studies demonstrate that prolonged use of cannabis can lead to the development of psychological and physical health problems. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, marijuana use can lead to a higher risk of psychiatric disorders, like schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. These issues further fracture families and communities already dealing with the burden of substance abuse.

Admittedly, some argue that cannabis offers medical benefits. However, there are FDA-approved medications that make use of synthesized cannabinoids that serve the same purpose - providing health benefits without the risks associated with unregulated marijuana use.

In connection to this, it is critical to underscore that societal costs related to unregulated marijuana use, including law enforcement, healthcare costs, accidents and lost productivity in workplaces are immense.

This situation is deeply personal and we should not ignore the devastating impacts of cannabis on individuals, families, and communities. It's time that our lawmakers prioritize public safety and health by enforcing legislation that criminalizes the use of cannabis. It is time to step up, look at the glaring evidence, and take the necessary steps towards a healthier, more secure society.

Please, sign this petition to demand our legislators to outlaw cannabis.
